2 months ago I was rushed to the hospital with horrible pain, vomiting, dry heaves and a extended stomach. several hours(seemed like forever.) The doctor told me my intestine was shut down, it was adhesions, they did surgery. Everything is fine now. But the doctor told me it could come back and I can't do anything about it. I would like to know if there is anything I can do? Thank You

Hi Cindy,
A bowel obstruction is a life-threatening emergency. I'm happy to hear that you received adequate intervention at the hospital. The down side is that adhesions do return, thus many people who experience adhesion related bowel obstructions often suffer this malady time and again. The best prevention is your own; as no one cares about your health more than you, thus you are your own best doctor. Research your condition, the reason for adhesion related bowel obstructions, paying close attention to the WHY factor. Why did the doctor tell you "it" could come back? Why did he tell you that there is nothing you can do about it?
My daughter needlessly suffered 14 long and agonizing years due to a myriad of doctors who insisted that she MUST accept her illness and DEAL with her pain. OUCH! Of course, none of these men were doubled over in pain-their lives were not on hold-and it came to seem that no one really cared that her life had come to a screeching halt due to pain and illness. Thankfully, we didn't listen to #1, #2, #3, #4, #5......(we stopped counting after a time), and determined that we would find our own way out of her living nightmare. You will read the story in its entirety in the book I have written, a book that was penned for people just like you. Best wishes for your best health! Karen
